There is no way to merge the contents of 2 wordpress websites (staging and live sites for example). Usually when we code new features or test new plugins we need to duplicate our production site into a staging environnement and once we're done, we need to push the changes live. The thing is we cannot just overwrite the live site because new orders were coming in, new comments and such. Sometimes, some of the posts descriptions were updated. We need a way to merge those websites because the wordpress export/import feature is simply not enough.
